Launchpad

Talk to your athlete about their familiarity and comfort with the following. Athletes who can reliably execute the items below tend to be the best fit for Stryker's Launchpad program:

🗹 serve overhand with more than half of serves landing in

🗹 know the position numbers on the court by heart

🗹 bump or set continuously with a partner for >30 touches in a row

🗹 comfortable with transition movement (i.e., from defence to freeball transition, from IDPs to attacking transition)

Registration includes a Stryker t-shirt, bag, and new ball.  However, if you already have enough gear at the moment, you can select to donate this new gear to one of the sports charities or non-profits Stryker supports annually.

Volleyball League

Co-ed for Boys and Girls in Grades 7-12

Ideal for players who love the game of volleyball and want to play in a league with dedicated practices and game days. This is an excellent opportunity for athletes who are playing junior high school, high school, or aspiring to play club volleyball, and want to continue playing in a competitive environment and further their skills development and game sense. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and league divisions and teams are formed by skill so that all athletes participate at an engaging level.

How does Stryker's League Work?

Groups.  Stryker's league will be comprised of athletes placed into groups by experience and skill (which often correlates to age).  Group A tends to be athletes who are 12-15 years old, and Group B tends to be athletes who are 15-18 years old.  Within each Group, teams will be formed so that there is an equal distribution of genders and experience levels, ensuring suitable competition across teams within each Group.

Teams.  Each team will consist of 8-10 players and a coach, and the teams are typically formed after the second Game Day as this allows for Stryker's coaches to assess skill level over the course of numerous sessions. Once the teams are formed, they do not change throughout the remainder of the program.

Game Days.  Group A will primarily play their Game Days out of Rundle Academy, and Group B will primarily play their Game Days out of Glenmore Christian Academy.  During some weeks, these locations might change for specific teams as we expect to hold some "A vs B" crossover games later in the season. All teams will play a minimum of two games each week (each game is "best of three" sets), and there is usually time to play three games.

Practices.  Because we don't set the Groups until after the league program has started, we've structured registration around the practice locations:  South and Central.  Each week there are three optional practice times for each area, and we recommend that athletes participate in at least one practice.  Note that practices will involve all ages and players from each Group, and our Coaches structure the practices accordingly so that everyone is appropriately challenged.

Registration.  When registering, you'll be signing up for a specific League area, knowing that Groups and Game Day locations won't be determined until after the league has kicked off.  Once registered, you'll be able to mark your attendance at practices through TeamSnap.

Registration includes a Stryker league jersey, bag, and new ball.  However, if you already have enough gear at the moment, you can select to donate this new gear to one of the sports charities or non-profits Stryker supports annually (but you will still get the league jersey once teams are formed).
